Bio

Billy Moore is a published author and Alumni Manager for Chicago CRED, a community organization that uses a holistic team approach to support mental and social needs of high-risk young men living on the south and west sides of Chicago.

Billy was born and raised in Chicago. At the age of 16 unfortunately Billy was convicted of first-degree murder and served 20 years in prison. While serving time, Billy earned his GED and an Associate's Degree in General Studies from Illinois Central College. He is currently enrolled at Southern New Hampshire University pursuing his bachelor's degree. After being released from prison, Billy worked nine years as a job coach and Site Supervisor with the nonprofit Safer Foundation. In 2017, two weeks before Billy joined the Green Re-Entry program as its manager of case work and outreach, Billy's only son became a victim of gun violence and was tragically killed.

Today, Billy works to transform the lives of young men with the greatest risk of becoming shooters or victims of gun violence.
